The internship program was extremely organized from beginning to end, and we had weekly cohort days where the emphasis was placed on encouraging friendship and connection building with other interns, engaging in activities to learn about the many departments across the museum, and explore on our own. I can't imagine a cooler office than The Met, since I could walk by art from hundreds of thousands of years ago on my way to my desk everyday. My role was also really interesting and engaging, and I got to work with my supervisor closely throughout the whole process.
What I wish was different
I loved the work I did with market research, strategic proposals, and creating visually compelling decks to present, but I wish I had more time to connect with interesting folks at the museum. I definitely wish I set up more coffee chats and had conversations with everyone ranging from building development managers to exhibition designers.
Advice
Showcase your passion for art! I have loved art since I can remember, and I definitely showed that passion along with my business acumen.

Seasonal Ambassador

What I liked
I loved meeting people from all around the world and sharing their love of art as well as my own. I loved my co-workers and having the experience to work around beautiful art constantly. To be in the museum before it opened and sometimes get first looks at exhibitions was definitely a plus to the job experience as well.

Advice
One piece of advice I would share is to go to the museum on days off just to see what its like to be a visitor because it will be just a different experience when you start working there.

MuSe Program Education Intern
June - August 2018 • New York City, NY
What I liked
My supervisor; the variety of projects, work, and opportunities to learn in my department and position; great community of fellow interns across different departments; pedagogical training and opportunity to design and give own tours to the museum public; unique access to the museum, its art and resources
What I wish was different
I wish the Friday seminars and panels/lectures from professionals across the museum had been more participatory --> more opportunity to process and discuss together as our group of interns what we were learning and experiencing throughout the summer. Otherwise, it was a great internship experience.
Advice
Take advantage of the incredible access and opportunities that this experience provides. Don't be shy about networking and connecting with professionals --> think big about who you want to meet and what you want to learn. It is possible with this internship, so don't waste it.
