JBTV Music Television

Business Operations Intern

March 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

JBTV has allowed me to get practical experience in the fields of marketing, event production, graphic design, and camera work. You are thrown into the line of fire at JBTV in the best way possible. Not every place will allow you to have such hands-on experiences as an intern, but JBTV certainly does. Not only this, but I still work there because the work atmosphere is fun and light-hearted. The team feels like a family.

What I wish was different

I do wish there was more organization at times in the way JBTV did business. At times we would be doing nothing, but then the next day we would be swamped with work to do. If the work was dispersed a bit more evenly throughout the week/month/etc. this would not be a problem.

Advice

JBTV is a place where you get as much as you put into it. If you coast and don't apply yourself, then you may find yourself bored and unengaged, but if you put your all into it I promise you that you'll love going to work.

Videographer Intern

What I liked

Interacting with professional musicians as an equivalent professional in concert videography.

What I wish was different

I wish there were more shows to shoot a per month.

Advice

Be professional around the musicians, but also remember that they are people too just like you who make mistakes and just want to have a good time doing what they love.

Graphic Design Intern

June - August 2018 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I liked all the free amenities and the individuals I worked with. Everyone was very nice and friendly.

What I wish was different

There was very little direction in terms of projects. We would be given an assignment and just told to complete it, with no feed back or real direction. There was very little organization in who we were “reporting” to. Often times we were just sitting there with nothing to do and would have to go up and ask for assignments. And when we would ask we’d get last minute assignments that needed to be done ASAP.

Advice

Learn how to be self sufficient and just complete a task given to you to the best of your ability. And to not always rely on feedback.
