WB Animation Studio Business Operations Intern: LA - Summer 2024

Your New Role 

This internship will be located in the LA area. The selected intern will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager’s in office schedule. 

Home to beloved shows such as TEEN TITANS GO!, BATWHEELS, HARLEY QUINN, ADVENTURE TIME, and CRAIG OF THE CREEK, Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios are known for their rich creation of award-winning animation and industry-leading development and production of kids, young adult, and adult entertainment.

 

The Studio Business Operations team is seeking a highly motivated summer intern to join our team. As a summer intern, you’ll immerse yourself in a series of exciting projects designed to shed light on rapidly evolving business models and content strategies in the animation space.

 

These projects will involve in-depth research and analysis, focused on the studio’s potential future opportunities in realms such as anime, gaming, and social media. This includes gaining insight into the industry landscape, identifying new intellectual properties, assessing content performance, and exploring ideas for potential partnerships.

 

You, as the intern, will be the driving force behind these projects, with the opportunity to present your findings to senior executives upon completion of the internship program and make tangible impact to the studio’s future strategy.


 
 
Your Role Accountabilities 

  • Conduct analysis of anime, social gaming, and social media industries, create comprehensive presentation materials on the global industry landscape, top content trends, key players and IP, recent business performance, and growth opportunities for the studio.
  • Build case studies to highlight creative success and best practices from other top-forming studios/content brands, summarize learnings and recommendations for the studio.
  • Create strategic frameworks to generate and prioritize potential growth and partnership opportunities for the studio in emerging content areas (anime, social gaming, social media, and others).
  • Support Director and Manager, Studio Business Operations in creating other strategy and content materials as needed.

 

 
 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Quick learner, proactive and resilient. Ability to thrive in ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
  • Strong research skills and ability to organize, synthesize and present information.
  • Skilled at creating presentation materials and crafting business narrative using data and charts.
  • Interest in animation is a must!
  • Prior entertainment industry experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required) 
  • Must be a rising Junior or Senior Undergrad Student (18 years or older) 
  • Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA) 
  • Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. Discovery now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States.

What to know before applying: 

  • The duration of the summer program regardless of which start/end option is 11 weeks.   
  • Program date options: 
  • Option 1: June 3rd – August 16th  
  • Option 2: June 10th – August 23rd 
  • Interns will be expected to work 35-40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.   
  • Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.   
  • Interviewing will take place from March through mid-April. A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The rate listed is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Rate: $19 per hour USD for undergrad interns, $25 per hour USD for graduate level interns.
