Warner Bros. Animation Production Internships: LA - Summer 2024

Your New Role
We have multiple Warner Bros. Animation Production internship opportunities available in the LA area. By applying to this posting, you will be considered for internship opportunities within this area.

Your Role Accountabilities
Duties could include:

  • Organizes and key words artwork for archive.
  • Assists Assistant Production Manager with assembling model/design packets.
  • Distributes scripts, storyboards, & other pre-production materials. 
  • May have the opportunity to work on artistic projects if applicable.
  • Assists with preparation of record materials.
  • Updates and maintains information in Shotgrid database and internal artwork catalog as directed by Production team.
  • Attends meetings.  Takes and distributes notes.
  • Assists with post retake tracking.
  • Assists design Assistant Production Manager in tracking artwork.
  • Hands on training from show production staff and exposure to all departments of the CG Animation pipeline from Story through Lighting.
  • Attend creative leadership reviews and learn new review process from production staff.
  • Create and distribute record summaries and session reports to Sound and Casting departments.
  • Attend final records and take circle notes during record sessions as needed.
  • Assist and support production staff as necessary.
  • Organizes out-going pre-production shipments to overseas studios.
  • Prepares storyboards for animatic import.
  • Under direction of managerial staff, assists with communications between management and crew.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

 


Qualifications & Experience
Essentials needed for the positions that are similar across the above roles (these do not all have to apply to every single role)

  • Familiarity with animation industry helpful.
  • Knowledge of MAC, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook required.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop required.
  • Knowledge of file set-up, maintenance and filing procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic math, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and English usage.
  • Knowledge of report, letter, logs, etc. formats required.
  • Must have the ability to organize and schedule work effectively.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with persons on all levels, in person and on the telephone.
  • Must have the ability to pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions.
  • Must have the ability to work well under time constraints and to handle multiple tasks, and to organize and schedule work effectively.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information.
  • Must be actively enrolled in a U.S. accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
  • Must be a rising Junior or Senior Undergrad Student (18 years or older)
  • Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above GPA)
  • Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. Discovery now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States. 

 

The Nice to Haves

  • Some artistic ability preferred.
  • Some previous work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of animation, games or VFX industry.
  • Knowledge of Shotgrid Pro preferred.
  • Proficiency with ToonBoom Storyboard Pro and FileMaker Pro preferred.

What to know before applying: 

The duration of the summer program regardless of which start/end option is 11 weeks.   

Program date options: 

Option 1: June 3rd – August 16th  

Option 2: June 10th – August 23rd 

Interns will be expected to work 35-40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.   

Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.   

Interviewing will take place from March through mid-April. A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The rate listed is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Rate: $19 per hour USD for undergrad interns, $25 per hour USD for graduate level interns
