Editorial Interns
Chicago Woman, the premier print publication and website for professional women in the city, is looking for editorial interns. Interns will be fully involved with the Chicago Woman editorial team and will be expected to be able to do the following: fact-check stories, be comfortable corresponding with PR, be able to (or willing to learn how) to accurately transcribe interviews, write short pieces for print and website, confirm photo credits and assist with regular events as needed, among other duties. Interns will also be asked to research story leads and review editorial submissions for their adherence to Chicago Woman standards and editorial tone.
The internship will consist of a combination of required time in meetings with the Chicago Woman editorial staff and flex time completing tasks from home, for a total of 10-15 hours per week. The ideal candidate is currently working towards a degree in journalism or creative writing or is otherwise interested in a career in publishing. The length of the internship is flexible and will depend on the candidates schedule and availability. We are looking for interns with exceptional writing and editing skills and meticulous attention to detail. Chicago Woman is growing, and stellar interns will be considered for permanent placement on the editorial staff. There will also be opportunities for interns to receive bylines on short published stories for the web and the print edition of the magazine.
To apply, please send a resume, cover letter, two writing samples, and three references to editor@chicago-woman com with "Editorial Internship" in the subject field.
