Lead Production Manager – Staff Position

Summary
Collaboraction is a 24 year old non-profit arts organization that creates original theatre and digital media that incites change around Chicago’s critical social issues of inequity, gf racism and oppression. Examples of such work include Crime Scene: a Chicago Anthology, A Blue Island In the Red Sea, and the annual festivals Peacebook and The Light Youth Festival. Digital projects include zoom projects through our Together Network including Crucial Connections, Becoming: Unlearning White Supremacy and fully produced videos for The Light, Peacebook and others. Due to the pandemic, Collaboraction has shifted to working remotely and moved their headquarters to a residency with AV Chicago while looking for a new theatrical space in Englewood, Austin or Lawndale. Collaboraction produces it’s mainstage season at the professional facilities at Kennedy-King College at 63rd and Halsted in Englewood.

The ideal candidate would have the following attributes:

Deep knowledge and experience with production, technology and design in both theatre and video;
familiarity with the roles of both Production Manager for theatre and Line Producer for video;
history of leading artistic productions with an emphasis on collaboration and equity;
demonstrates leadership and team building;

organizational skills;
comfortable with google suite;
knowledge of video and live streaming productions;

comfortable working in a radically inclusive and equitable theatre environment;
and able to serve as a leader, manager, coach and mentor

Production Manager is an Artistic Staff position with Collaboraction reporting to the Producing Director and working with the Artistic Director and staff to plan and implement the production elements of annual programming (The Light, Peacebook, main stage show, Utopian Ball, Soiree, company events, and all video productions and other potential events/performances as needed) as a manifestation of our mission. This includes assisting in hiring and leading management of designers & technicians, implementing budgets, leading production meetings, and participating in general arts administration.
Oversee the Facility Manager and storage, maintenance and usage of production assets (lights, sound, scenic, tools, costumes, props, etc.).
Collaborates on the organization, scheduling and usage of the venues.

Pay Rate/Range*: Part-time monthly freelance stipend for $1500 per month (based on 83.33 hours per month per our Pay Equity For All Policy of $18/hr) with opportunities for additional per project contract work.
