Social Media Producer/Editor - Marketing


General Job Description:


Weigel Broadcasting is a multi-platform media company with a remarkably creative, loyal and entrepreneurial team. CW26 is seeking a Social Media Producer/Editor- Marketing to create and coordinate the production of online editorial and marketing assets as well as creating engaging social media content for its website and growing web properties. This person will work with various creative departments as well as our syndicated and network partners to create and repurpose content for websites, social media platforms and newsletters. They will serve as brand ambassador for the company as part of the marketing department team. The ideal candidate will have strong copywriting and video editing skills and experience and the ability to use a content management system.


Duties/Responsibilities:


Create daily articles, posts and concepts related to station programming and marketing priorities.


Maintain marketing messages across digital touch-points for viewers, including newsletters, social media outlets and websites – 24/7/365 for CW26 and The U.


Keep local websites up-to-date with information, articles, videos, sweepstakes, promotions, station campaigns and programming priorities.


Develop and drive social media tactics to deliver on marketing goals using Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and other emerging platforms and technologies.


Ability to produce live social media segments that reflect our station and its priorities.


Work collaboratively with The Jam's social media producer.


Collaborate with colleagues across marketing, local programming, production, sales and web departments.


Shoot video and still pictures for station events, talent publicity tours, and original social media content


Other duties, as assigned.


Requirements:


At least 2 years of professional experience in social media and content creation.


Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or equivalent experience.


Must be an excellent creative writer with strong grammar and proof-reading skills.


Ability to shoot and edit video.


A passion for television, Chicago, pop-culture, current events, and emerging digital platforms and the know-how to bring it all together.


A self-starter who can manage multiple projects, producing completed work that is accurate and timely.


Must be a passionate and driven team player, who wants to learn more, shows continued skill growth, and is relentlessly self-improving.


Some weekend work and some flexibility in work hours required.
