The National Parks Conservation Association, a 100-year old nonprofit advocacy organization and the nation’s leading voice for national parks seeks an associate editor. The associate editor contributes to all facets of the production of National Parks magazine, an award-winning quarterly publication about public lands that covers topics ranging from science and history to conservation, wildlife, travel, politics, arts and culture. This person works closely with the small, close-knit magazine team on tasks including story planning, reporting, writing, editing, copy editing, fact-checking, photo research, photo editing, and communication with readers, writers, artists, photographers and photo agencies. The associate editor also assists with innovative digital projects such as multimedia extensions (audio, video, slideshows, etc.) of magazine stories, interactive features, content promotion and new initiatives as they arise. In addition, the associate editor helps research, write and edit blog posts, assists with NPCA’s website, and occasionally tackles other editorial projects. Finally, the associate editor provides administrative support in a variety of ways from processing expenses to coordinating meetings, answering phone calls, managing contracts and assisting with production management. In short, we are looking for a gifted reporter, writer and editor who has very strong digital and organizational skills and is uncompromising when it comes to accuracy and detail. 

Location: Washington, DC (remote until office reopens)
Salary: Salary is based on location and experience. Washington, DC (up to $68k)
