Digital Media Intern

Digital Media Intern

Position type: Intern, part-time (15-20 hr/wk), remote

Position term: December 14, 2020 through January 29, 2020 (6 weeks with 5 floating holidays)

Candidate restrictions: Must be either an Illinois resident (reside in the state more than 90 days out of the year) or study at an Illinois institution and be authorized to work in the United States. Citizenship is not a requirement.

Position Description:

This position will work as a member of the Humanity First for Illinois Public Relations Team to maximize Humanity First for Illinois’s presence and impact in moving our progressive governing agenda at the state and local levels.

The Digital Media Intern will support the Humanity First for Illinois Public Relations Team in developing and implementing digital marketing campaigns to maximize Humanity First for Illinois’s presence statewide.

Principal Responsibilities:

Advancing Humanity First for Illinois’s stakeholder communications to key allies, decision makers, donors, and media partners statewide. Supporting the development and execution of a communications strategy that builds power for all Illinoisans to advance and win our public policy agenda.

This includes:

  • monitoring and managing digital media channels including the development of channel-specific content;
  • collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop and deploy marketing strategies around Four Points Forward and other initiatives;
  • supporting the development, monitoring, and evaluation of performance indicators and metrics for all digital media marketing initiatives;
  • conducting research as necessary; and
  • taking other steps necessary to develop and advance Humanity First for Illinois’s state priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience managing digital media channels preferred.
  • Experience in marketing or communications program or project management (includes relevant coursework) preferred.
  • Superior writing, proofreading, and editing skills required.
  • Creative and critical thinking ability required.
  • The ability to produce consistent, quality work in a fast-paced environment is essential.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and to adjust to frequently changing demands.
  • Proficiency in Slack and G Suite required.
  • Strong understanding of digital media platforms and best practices preferred (includes relevant coursework).

Education: A relevant degree or coursework in Marketing, Communications, Public Affairs, or other applicable field is preferred but not required.

This position reports to: Public Relations Coordinator or designee.

Travel Requirements: None.

Salary & benefits: This position is an unpaid internship position.

Location: This remote position can be filled statewide in Illinois.
