Producer, Audio Production

The Audio Production Producer is responsible for imaging and commercial audio content of broadcasts via radio, internet, and other mobile platforms. The ideal candidate should be organized, creative and eager to be a part of a team effort to deliver the best produced content in commercial, promotional, and programming audio.

Daily responsibilities will include: 

  • Concept-to-broadcast completion of imaging and commercial production for WGN Radio’s valued advertisers, as well as our sports partners, the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago White Sox and Northwestern University Wildcats.
  • Contributes to the editorial process and make solid decisions in breaking news situations.
  • Execute strategies that engage and grow audiences across all digital devices.
  • Writes, produces, and edits imaging and commercial materials that appeals to target audiences.
  • Research production topics using the internet, video archives, and other information sources.
Requirements & Skills:

  • Must have at least 5+ years in radio production experience, in a top 35 or 50 radio market.
  • Fluency in audio editing programs is essential. Knowledge and experience with Adobe Audition V.6 or higher is preferred.
  • Understanding of broadcast automation programs is essential. Proficiency with Wide Orbit Automation for Radio is preferred. 
  • Possesses creative writing skills for commercial scripts and projects.
  • Must be detail oriented, possess time management skills, have excellent communication skills for this highly deadline-centric position.
  • Create and execute station sound and imaging based on the direction of the Program Director and management team.
  • Understand brand building directives.
  • Interact well with air talent, traffic members, news team members, production, promotions and engineering staff.
  • Excellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skills.
  • Possess journalistic integrity and understanding of listeners needs and expectations.
  • Ability to meet quality standards for service & evaluate customer satisfaction
  • Must be available some night and weekends as needed
