Dow Jones News Fund Business Reporting Summer Internship

Sharpen your reporting skills next summer telling the stories of young entrepreneurs and makers, small businesses and big corporations, workers and labor unions, tech startups, major advertisers and corporate sponsors, stocks and bonds, real estate and so much more. Business journalists have a broad beat that covers the gamut.

The Dow Jones News Fund seeks college juniors, seniors and graduate students eager to jump into business reporting. The News Fund arranges paid, summer internships with media organizations across the country, provides week-long, pre-internship training and awards $1,500 scholarships.

Interns are paid a minimum of $450/week for 10-12 weeks.

Before your internship begins, interns enjoy a week learning from business journalists and drilling-down on finance, investing, labor issues and mergers and acquisitions. Afterward, spend the summer working for respected business outlets like The Wall Street Journal, American City Business Journals, Arizent, Barron’s and more. We are looking for students with strong writing skills and previous reporting experience at an internship, as a freelancer or for student media. Coursework in business, statistics, finance and economics a plus, but not required.

Students apply online here. Each applicant must submit an unofficial transcript, personal essay and Three to five clips of single-byline news stories you wrote. Include the publication name and date, headline, byline and body of each article. Within a day or two, the News Fund will send applicants a link to a timed, online test that must be taken within 3 days. The test itself takes about an hour.
