Major responsibilities:
Editing assistant’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Entry-level writing duties, such as event roundups or special discounts and deals, Pet of the Week, restaurant openings and closings, etc.
Research, fact-check and build photo galleries on topics that will resonate with our digital audience.
Optimize content for digital, using SEO best practices.
Edit and project manage e-book production as needed.
Fact-check articles and help with photo research.
Report and write stories as needed for features department, including Food & Dining, Lifestyles and Entertainment.
Carry out all assignments and job duties in a manner consistent with the professional and ethical standards of journalism in general and of the Chicago Tribune in particular. The critical functions center around, but do not solely include, ensuring that the newspaper’s editorial product is accurate and consistent with the paper’s style.
Acting within Company and department policy to do whatever is necessary to execute his or her duties. Without the approval of the appropriate editor, may not: authorize any expenditure; sign any contract, lease or other agreement; change or revise any established Company policies; release any confidential or sensitive information relating to strategic business operations, employees, etc.; enter into a relationship with any employee which may have or appear to have an adverse effect on the ability to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
