Kitchen Theatre Company's Residential Professional Fellows Program

Kitchen Theatre Company’s (KTC) seeks applicants for its Resident Fellowship Program. This program is committed to training future generations of theater professionals. At the Kitchen, the fellows play a vital role in the production and administration process and are mentored by members of the staff. KTC fellows have gone on to MFA programs and to professional theater careers throughout the United States. Fellows are in residence for the entire season (July 2019-June 2020). Housing and a weekly stipend is provided.

Fellowships are available in the following areas:
 
  • Artistic -Mentored by the Artistic Director, the AD Fellow participates in the day-to-day operations of the theater focusing on casting, dramaturgy, literary management, producing, and general messaging. The AD Fellow also curates and creates KTC audience engagement materials such as lobby displays and printed audience guides. If there is interest, the AD Fellow will assistant direct on mainstage shows throughout the season. Must have strong writing and communication skills, enjoy working with people, be detail oriented, and be a self-starter. This position is great experience for future artistic directors.
  • Administrative – Mentored by the Managing Director and the Artistic Director, the A&M Fellow participates in the day-to-day operations of the theater. This fellow will learn skills related to several fields of arts management, including: general operating practices (including budgeting, accounting, and cash management); development and marketing strategies; front-of-house operations; personnel management; event planning; and company management. Additional opportunities in literary management and producing may be available. Must have exceptional communication skills (written and oral), be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite, enjoy working with people, be detail oriented and be a self-starter. Previous management and scheduling experience is a plus, but not necessary. This position is great experience for future managing directors.
  • Marketing & Design - Work directly with the Associate Producing Director and other staff members to create marketing campaigns and visual materials for this acclaimed professional theater company. Involvement includes updating and maintaining social media sites, managing and creating content for the theater's website, and creating ads, invitations, emails, videos, and other promotional materials. Knowledge of Adobe Suite and excellent organizational and written and oral communication skills required. Knowledge of Final Cut Pro is a plus.
  • Stage & Production Management - Work directly with the Resident Stage Manager as assistant stage manager with guest and resident creative teams. Involvement includes the full production process from pre-production through strike, as well as costume and prop organization and maintenance as needed. This position also works alongside the Artistic Director, who serves as Production manager, to facilitate various aspects of production including light hangs, budgeting, calendar work, rentals, and more. There is also opportunity to stage manage Kitchen Sink productions. Strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, as well as experience in props and/or costumes required. Earn Equity Membership Candidacy (EMC) points.
