Curatorial Intern

14​ ​hrs/week,​
Supervisor:​ ​Lauren​ ​Boegen
Start/end​ ​dates​ ​to​ ​correspond​ ​with​ ​the​ ​Spring​ ​semester
 
 
This​ ​internship​ ​is​ ​a​ ​combination​ ​of​ ​assisting​ ​museum​ ​staff​ ​with​ ​day-to-day​ ​operations​ ​of​ ​the​ ​museum, including​ ​but​ ​not​ ​limited​ ​to:
 
-​ ​Serve​ ​as​ ​an​ ​advocate​ ​for​ ​the​ ​museum​ ​and​ ​its​ ​content​ ​through​ ​gallery​ ​attendant​ ​duties.
-​ ​assisting​ ​with​ ​special​ ​events
-​ ​assisting​ ​with​ ​the​ ​museum​ ​store
-​ ​participating​ ​in​ ​exhibition​ ​development
-​ ​participating​ ​in​ ​grant-writing​ ​efforts
-​ ​assisting​ ​with​ ​cataloguing​ ​and​ ​managing​ ​the​ ​museum's​ ​library,​ ​archive,​ ​and​ ​permanent​ ​collection
 
Each​ ​intern​ ​will​ ​also​ ​propose​ ​and​ ​complete​ ​a​ ​special​ ​project​ ​over​ ​the​ ​course​ ​of​ ​the​ ​internship.​ ​Although the​ ​initial​ ​project​ ​idea​ ​will​ ​be​ ​generated​ ​by​ ​the​ ​intern,​ ​museum​ ​staff​ ​will​ ​help​ ​hone​ ​the​ ​project​ ​to​ ​be​ ​both related​ ​to​ ​the​ ​intern's​ ​field​ ​of​ ​study​ ​or​ ​professional​ ​aspirations​ ​as​ ​well​ ​as​ ​serve​ ​the​ ​museum's​ ​mission and​ ​goals.
 
Qualifications:
 
-​ ​Coursework​ ​or​ ​experience​ ​in​ ​arts​ ​administration,​ ​interpretation,​ ​collections​ ​management
-​ ​Apple​ ​computers​ ​and​ ​iPad
-​ ​Point​ ​of​ ​sale​ ​(using​ ​Square​ ​on​ ​the​ ​iPad)
-​ ​Able​ ​to​ ​work​ ​independently
-​ ​Strong​ ​time​ ​management​ ​skills
-​ ​Comfortable​ ​working​ ​in​ ​an​ ​open​ ​office​ ​environment
-​ ​Flexible​ ​and​ ​adaptable
-​ ​Comfortable​ ​interacting​ ​with​ ​the​ ​public​ ​about​ ​the​ ​museum,​ ​exhibition​ ​artifacts​ ​and​ ​store.
-​ ​Available​ ​to​ ​complete​ ​internship​ ​hours​ ​between​ ​12-7​ ​pm,​ ​Tuesdays-Saturdays
