Curatorial Intern
14 hrs/week,
Supervisor: Lauren Boegen
Start/end dates to correspond with the Spring semester
This internship is a combination of assisting museum staff with day-to-day operations of the museum, including but not limited to:
- Serve as an advocate for the museum and its content through gallery attendant duties.
- assisting with special events
- assisting with the museum store
- participating in exhibition development
- participating in grant-writing efforts
- assisting with cataloguing and managing the museum's library, archive, and permanent collection
Each intern will also propose and complete a special project over the course of the internship. Although the initial project idea will be generated by the intern, museum staff will help hone the project to be both related to the intern's field of study or professional aspirations as well as serve the museum's mission and goals.
Qualifications:
- Coursework or experience in arts administration, interpretation, collections management
- Apple computers and iPad
- Point of sale (using Square on the iPad)
- Able to work independently
- Strong time management skills
- Comfortable working in an open office environment
- Flexible and adaptable
- Comfortable interacting with the public about the museum, exhibition artifacts and store.
- Available to complete internship hours between 12-7 pm, Tuesdays-Saturdays
