Associate Designer

Job Description

We are looking for an Associate Designer to join our design team, based at our global headquarter in New York City.

Primary Responsibilities
-Assist designer to facilitate all aspects from concept to design and to production.
-Assist and take direction from preliminary design research.
-Set up design techpacks; work closely with technical design team to ensure tech packs are accurate and complete.
-Responsible for trim development:
Work closely with product development to set up meetings with vendors to come up with the season trims.
- Responsible to set up all trim sheets and update trim sheets as needed during development stage of design. Responsible to pick all basic trim.
- Work closely with product development to meet with vendors to choose each season trims.
Responsible to make a design trim board each season.
- Responsible to work with the sample room coordinator and product development to ensure that all trims are ordered for duplication.
-Responsible to work with the design coordinator to ensure that the sample room is run smoothly.
-Observe fit process.
Responsible for communicating any changes in the fittings to team members.
If a new SMS needs to be ordered, the assistant designer is responsible to relay this information to sales.
-Responsible for making all sketch changes after fittings in a timely manner and alerting technical team of these changes.
-Prepare design line sheets and update as necessary.
-Update design boards as necessary.
-Responsible for importing all the sketches in RLM and assigning style numbers.
-Responsible to check in all SMS to ensure quality of samples and that all proper trims have been used.
If samples are not satisfactory, samples need to be passed to patternmakers so that samples can be fixed.
-Responsible to work on print placements and all embroidery layouts.
-Responsible to work on the seasonal color palette and and approval of all lab dips.


The Ideal Candidate


Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion or Art (or equivalent experience and education).- 3-5 years of experience in the Contemporary/Advanced or Designer market.-Strong organizational, communication and written skills.-Proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop.-Detail oriented.-Strong illustration and flat sketching skills.
