Graphic Design Internship

Calling all designers! We are looking for a stellar and passionate intern at our office in downtown Chicago. Matrix Partners is an award-winning brand strategy and communications firm focusing on the consumer pet products industry, with a love of all things pet. This is an unpaid position but may be applied toward college credit if applicable.

The Graphic Design Intern will provide entry-level assistance to the Creative Team and Client Services VP’s, supporting the design, development and rebranding of visual communications. Interns in this role should be capable of incorporating best design practices and current technologies into graphic elements, presentations and web- based content. Candidates should have enthusiasm for design and social media, plus a passion for CPG pet marketing.


  • Must be working toward a graphic design/visual communication degree with skills in design, digital graphics, typography, illustration, and page layout design

  • Must have personal laptop with relevant Adobe CS6 programs a plus

  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator

  • An interest in social media execution and support a plus

  • Excellent verbal, written, digital, and graphic communication skills

  • Have the ability to listen and work collaboratively with team members from various creative disciplines


  • Help create impactful advertising, packaging and marketing materials for consumer packaged brands

  • Work with the graphic design team and project managers to see projects through from conception to

    completion, including revisions and preparing accurate final files for production

  • Design branded digital elements, including: web banners, social media graphics, email designs for Constant

    Contact, PowerPoint presentations, sales sheets and more

  • Perform website maintenance/content posts/updates as needed

  • Prepare and adjust files for web and print production

  • Manage, organize and archive all creative assets

  • Have the ability to present creative reasoning to brand teams
