Strategy Manager
 
The Strategic and Planning Department currently has an opportunity for a Senior Strategy Manager to support the development and delivery of enterprise-wide strategic planning and program development efforts.
 
Job Summary
The Strategy Manager reports to the Director of Strategic Planning and works closely with the VP of Strategic Planning and other team members across the Office of Strategic Planning. The Strategy Manager will also interface with key hospital and physician leadership. 
 
The Strategy Manager will:
  • Assist in the development and delivery of enterprise-wide strategic planning and program development efforts
  • Work with senior clinical and administrative leadership to develop implementable growth strategies for hospital service lines and key business segments
  • Perform sophisticated analyses and drive to insight, including the assessment of core capabilities and financial performance of programs within UCMC
  • Conduct market assessments, evaluate environmental trends, track and synthesize complex legislation and the impact it has on hospital programs
  • Develop comprehensive competitor profiles
  • Build financial models and pro formas to measure program growth against targets
  • Assist senior leadership team in evaluating strategic opportunities, researching regional and national market opportunities including M&A and evolving models for partnership
The Strategy Manager must demonstrate:
  • Business acumen and understanding of market/financial analysis in context of healthcare provider needs
  • Facilitation and presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal team members and stakeholders across UCMC
  • Self-motivation with ability to work independently and with guidance from others on the team
  • Ability to structure solutions in an ambiguous environment
  • Strong attention to detail and capabilities as a strategic problem solver
  • Flexibility and responsiveness in managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to positively interact with executives, physicians and staff at all levels
  • Microsoft Office proficiencies, especially fluent with PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to quickly learn proprietary data systems and sources
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required in business, finance, or related field
  • 5 years of progressive experience or 2-3 years of experience plus a Master’s degree
  • Experience in the following fields preferred:
  • Strategy or management consulting OR
  • Strategy, finance or operations role within a large healthcare organization OR
  • Hospital administrative fellowship experience
  • Strong analytical skills (Excel required, familiarity with Access, SQL, Cognos, and other analytical tools preferred)
  • Ability to communicate through PowerPoint
