Business Development Intern, AAOS Registry Program

You are excited to work alongside the business development, onboarding, analytics, engagement, optimization and operations teams. This internship will support the growth of the Registry Program by contributing to strategic projects.
The AAOS Registry Program is a group of orthopaedic registries that supply the tools to help the medical profession collect data, report, and benchmark. The program’s goals include defining patient-centered quality care and identifying potential procedural or implant problems. The current AAOS portfolio includes the newly launched Shoulder and Elbow Registry (SER) as well as the American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR) with more than 1.4 million hip and knee procedures contained within its database. These registries measure performance. They also link to educational programs that address practice and treatment opportunities which lead to improved care for all orthopaedic patients.

The Registry Department’s Internship Program offers college students, graduate students and recent graduates the opportunity to work in a fast-growing and creative environment. You will serve as a vital team member while gaining valuable knowledge and professional experience at the intersection of business, operations, and public health.
During your internship, we expect you will gain an understanding our business and make a lasting impact. You have the option to narrow the focus of the internship to a specific area of the department or expand the focus of the internship to provide a variety of experiences across our department. These experiences include but are not limited to working alongside the business development, onboarding, analytics, engagement, optimization and operations teams. The role will support the growth of the Registry Program by contributing to strategic projects such as:
Working with data elements to create chart, reports, and summaries for patient sites
- Developing new and improving existing workflows
- Researching opportunities for the growth of the Registry Program into new procedural and body site areas
- Reviewing content for the AJRR Annual Report and analytic supplements
- Developing the culture in the Registry Department
- Other projects related to your field of interest including health policy, quality improvement, business, and operational management
Each internship will vary in scope based on the intern’s capabilities, availability, and interest. The internship welcomes and is open to students from all fields of study. The internship is available by semester or multi-semester timeframes and are paid in accordance with the intern’s experience.

Open to any current students or recent grads
- Can work up to 37.5 hours a week
- Start date is flexible
- The duration of the internship is flexible - month, semester, 6 months etc.
- Can be part-time or full-time
